WC Spring Hockey
Winter Club Spring hockey will be offering two ice sessions a week to each age group. One day will be a skills practice and the other will be an inter-squad scrimmage. Teams will participate in 1 local tournament if you choose for your player to participate.
Basic Information
- No league play, meaning no weekend games with the exception of the local tournament
- A local tournament during the spring season which will be optional at registration, (first 18 players and 2 goalies registered will get roster spots)
- 1 practice per week
- 1 skills and drills based session run by coaches of the upcoming Fall season teams
- 1 Intersquad game per week
- Standard 3 period game
- Players will be divided up weekly to ensure balance and for players to play with different players every week
- Coaches will be on the benches as they would in a standard game
- All Practices and Intersquad games will be held at Hot Shots Ice Arena.
- Bantam participants will have checking clinic at the start of the Spring season
- Tournament location will be at Top Shelf Gurnee or Pleasant Prairie Rec Plex. First 18 players that select the tournament option, per level, will be able to participate. If enough players are available to enter two teams in a tournament we will do so.
- Mites will not attend a tournament in the spring. Mites will be divided into two groups and each group will have a full-ice game on Saturday mornings at 8:30am or 9:40am for the following Saturdays: April 12th, 26th, May 10th, and May 17th. This will give Mites an opportunity to play a full-ice game, along with smaller team sizes for more ice time, and more balanced competition.
As in past years, spring hockey is the “moving-up” season - an excellent chance for your player to gain confidence at the new level. It is great preparation for August tryouts, a terrific time for players to further hone their skills and have fun, while ensuring time for other spring sports. Our goal each year is to have enough for 2 teams per age group, as supported by numbers.
